Julz has been practicing as a registered psychologist since 2006. Her qualifications include: A Master’s Degree with Distinction and a Post Graduate Diploma endorsed in Child and Family psychology from the University of Canterbury. She is a member of the NZ Psychological Society, Crisis Intervention and Management Australasia and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.
Her experience as a psychologist includes; psychological assessment and intervention in the areas of special education, behaviour and wellbeing and critical incident trauma response. She has provided psychological services for government departments including the Ministries of Education, Social Development and Justice, NGO’s including Southern Rehab, Methodist Mission, Presbyterian Support Services and employee assistance programme providers including Vitae and OCP. She is an accredited provider of supported assessment and therapeutic services under psychological services, pain management and sensitive claims contracts with the Accident Compensation Corporation.
Julz enjoys talking with and working with people. She prefers not to stand on ceremony, likes people to feel welcome in the room and able to be themselves. Julz believes there are times when therapy needs to be serious but that there is also room for playfulness and light heartedness.
While Julz’s approach is eclectic, she offers EMDR therapy and is developing skills in Somatic Experiencing. She has a special interest in the areas of anxiety and trauma
